Final Film

Final Draft (Actual film)
This is our final film after many attempts of filing and re-evaluating the design and plot of the film, we ended up changing the overall idea and characteristics o our character and how we want them perceived. We've changed the roles of the characters making the female the lead villain and the male the side character with the focus on the female character going against social trends. The film opening is based on  introducing the character and what she is capable of. As a group we have decided on this idea as we thought it would be best to create and mould a better story round and we stick by these changes and hope it has created a good opening. We have grown and developed as a group in teamwork as well as individual work it has also help develop our media skills in filmmaking and general knowledge

(Culmination of Research) The three main components of film

Research
The three keys to film

There are three components needed in order to make a film that works. These three components result in a film being successful or not as if these three cannot work in synergy then there is not chance a film would work as there would be no sense of director, flow or understanding of whats going on. It is also likely that no one would want to see it when its missing a certain aspect like a 'Bankable Star'
These paragraphs outline what these three key elements mean to a film

Effect of a Director on film

The effect of a Director on film is immense, they are entirely relied upon to piece a film together from scratch form directing every single shot to where the actor should be looking during a scene. The film director gives direction to the cast and crew and creates an overall vision through which a film eventually becomes realized, or noticed. Directors need to be able to mediate differences in creative visions and stay in the boundaries of the films budget. There are different paths to becoming a director, A lot of directors come within the same business of film making they could even of been a screenwriters, editors or even actors. Others have likely attended film school in order to become a director,Directors can vary from the way they work Some like to give a plot line and allow actors to improve upon the dialogue and improvise a little while others want to control every aspect of production. Some directors even end up composing, editing and writing the screenplays for their
films

Effect of a Script on film

A script is a written piece of work that is created/drafted by the screenwriters or maybe even directors. It dictates the dialogue of the film and how actors carry out the script giving different emotions, movements actions and expressions for the actors to achieve and replicate to the directors and screenwriters satisfaction. A script is first drafted and read through in order to decide whether the story is workable and set in the right state and whether the situation of what the actors say and do works within the film, everything can be down to the wire sometimes when it comes to a script and other times it be used as a guideline to follow if the director feels that they can improvise with s scene or to creating a diversity in the use of scripts, anyone who is working on the film is likely to be given a script especially the actors with visible indications of what they are meant to say and act out in their scenes. A script is mandatory for a film to work as shooting can go on for months at a time and the amount of scenes and writing within the film can not be remembered entirely which may result in the films vision and idealisation being lost

The effect a Bankable star has on a Film

a bankable star is one of the "3 minimum ingredients to any film package", the other two being a successful director and a script or a strong story idea. The involvement of a bankable star in a film gives investors confidence that they will achieve a return on their investments. The idea is that a bankable star will make audiences want to watch the films that are being produced by the companies that are distributing the film across many countries as a 'Bankable star' is likely to get noticed by the average movie goer which makes the movie goer consider watching the movie as the star gives the incentive its a movie worth watching as it has a actor they know or have heard of. A Bankable star can also dictate whether a movie will be made as they guarantee an audience, when there is no star present they may decide to scrap the film as it may be too risky with the idea that they are putting forward to use an actor/ star which is not known is probably not going to get a large audience as the actor isn't likely to have a following. Bankable stars are likely to have higher pay checks for their services but good reason too as the more known the actor is the likely hood of the size of his following is going to be too,They dictate whether a movie can be successful sometimes as they provide a reason for the audience to watch the film

Behind the scenes: Makeup

BTS: Makeup

For our film we decided to attempt to increase the depth of one of our characters                          (Played by Adam) by adding scarring to his arm and shoulders as it adds some mystery to him making people ask questions like what happened to him and how did he get those scars. With the use of makeup, glue, tissues and foundation we attempted to create some form of scarring while applying each aspect of the materials starting with the glue, first they applied glue to the forearm then they applied tissue and added more glue. After that more tissues was applied and the process was repeated in order to create a more taller and more scar looking affect on the arm. Later foundation was used in a attempt to make it look like asking but it didn't turn out that well as it was our first time attempting this and the colour of the foundation was different to the king colour of the applicant

Independent film making research

Media Research 4

  Independent Film Making

Filming can take place outside the mainstream and it is commonly called independent filmmaking ever since the introduction of DV (Digital Video), film making has become more democratised filmmakers are able to shoot and edit a film, create and edit the sounds and music swell as put together the final cut on a home computer. Although the means of production is democratised the financing, marketing and distribution remain difficult for the independent film makers as they are outside of the traditional system of film making so they tend to rely on Film festivals to get their films noticed and sold for distribution and production. However the use of the internet has allowed for the cheap distribution of film using websites like youtube. As a result film companies have emerged in order to assist independent filmmakers in getting their films sold and seen via mainstream internet marketplaces, often adjacent to popular hollywood titles. film makers who have problems achieving the mainstream means of distribution now resort to online distribution

Deconstructing first shots

Deconstructing first shots

These are our first shots that we have to deconstruct and interpret swell as point out the shots that aren't good and didn't fall to plan so we can improve and change our shots, this will allow us to develop our film and move forward with the final production of the film  and work towards the final aspects and entirety of the film opening

Opening: walking across the desert using a distanced continuous wide shot with music playing in the background to add effect to the shot, we used a continuos shot to add to the effect of being alone within  in a desert wasteland with no other living inhabitants not even wildlife

In this shot the main character is seen to be reacting to a noise which is heard,it is quite load and sudden and this is why in the resulting scene she turns quite quickly with a startled face and decides to make her way towards the noise/wreck site                                                                                     (music still continuously playing) (mid shot being used)

This is a shot of the main character making her way towards the wreck site in the middle of nowhere in the distance making her way down a very deep dune struggling to make her way towards the site  as it is a very long journey (long shot)

Here is a shot of the foreign object that has fallen from the sky with our main character making her way towards the foreign object in the distance as you can see be the reflectiveness of the object things have gotten ver visible when it comes to finding the object at a close distance as it is likely not of this world (close up transitions to long shot)

When the main character arrives and goes to pick up the object it moves to a closeup of the main character anxiously picking up the foreign object to examine and maybe find use of it as it has fallen from the sky and may have some form of purpose (close up)

After picking up the foreign object it seems like the object strikes back using some sort of force which forces our character to drop the object like it is as hot as fire and it seems to have some sort of mystical power as it seems to have the ability to do that (mid shot)

Here the main character is seen to be feeling the after affects of the force felt from the foreign object as it seems to have given her some sort of power with the missing need of special effects which will be added into the final shots but it displays a continuous shot of the character gaining her powers and feeling the affects of how strong the force of the foreign object is (continuous shot, close up)

Here is an (extreme close up) of the main character and her eyes showing the raw emotion and realisation of what has happened to the characters inner self, special affects were also needed to add affect and show that she now has her own powers and can finally move on and through her journey

  `
The main character is interrupted by the the villain within the film as he stands behind her and she begins to notice that he standing behind her like he is ready to attack and take what he thinks is rightfully his
(continuous shot, long shot)

She turns round to confront him and maybe even commence in a battle over her powers as he seems to be interested in whats going on with the main character swell as take what is rightly his ,his power source and maybe even life source
(over the shoulder shot)

She goes to use her powers in order to fight him in battle in order to survive against him
(close up, action shot)
